My husband and I had lunch there yesterday, it was a wonderful experience. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm smile and "Hi Friends!" The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The had a small but nice selection of food and tons of caffeinated options. Everything is locally sourced and homemade. We will definitely be going back.

Kate's Downtown always provides exemplary customer service, and a high quality product made just for you!! Kate recently did a Birthday Party for my daughter that was so amazing! Her friends are still talking about all the fun activities that Miss Kate and her friends had planned, not to mention all the yummy scratch made, unprocessed goodies she made for the event! This is my favorite establishment in Port Huron, you are always treated like family!! Kate, I don't have Facebook anymore, but I want to have a mother/daughter tea with my stepdaughter on May 9th! Call me!!

Kate does a great job, not only is the food great but the service is top notch. I take everyone that is from out of town to show off downtown Port Huron. Go here!

Kate's is a casual coffeehouse downtown. The menu is simplistic and the service is friendly. It is a place you can hang out in, chatting with friends or reading alone, the cheesecake is exquisite!

Finding gluten free in the Port Huron area was a challenge. The selection of sandwiches and backed goods was very broad here. I bought a loaf of GF bread and it was great. The sandwich's were not as amazing and the soup sounded better than it tasted. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have several non-dairy milks to choose from for the coffee drinks and the almond milk cappuccino was one of the best I have had when topped with their cinnamon sugar mix. The space is large and they have a small play area in the back for kids. I recommend it for coffee and service but the food was not as good as I had hoped.

Great place in Port Huron to get a good sandwich, soup, or salad. I had the salad and chicken salad sandwich. The bread on the sandwich was incredible. I ordered a mocha to go on my way out and that was fabulous as well. The staff at Kate's is so incredibly friendly. I will return when I am in the area again.

This is a hot new place downtown that I love. It's a coffee shop with an elevated and extended menu. Very attractive and cozy decor help crest a warm inviting atmosphere. The food was simple yet delicious and locally sourced. The kitchen appeared a bit overwhelmed so I had to wait a long time for food but it was worth it. I met a few friends here for lunch and was surprised by how hip it seemed for our town! Hooray for the youngsters who are bringing new life and energy!

Great food, great decor, great music, great vibe...the perfect place for a shower. I can't wait to come here again on my next visit home in Port Huron. Kate is great!

Very cute warm and friendly atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed longer. They have a great selection of loose leaf tea, yummy coffee and a variety of bakery items!

Quite possibly the coolest little coffee stop I've stumbled upon in my work travels! I had a great latte and healthy oatmeal to start my day. I promised to return for lunch before I left town for my next work stop and when I walked in the door the staff cheered because they remembered me, wow! They whipped up a very satisfying sandwich that I took with me to my next work assignment. My only regret was that I was unable to sit for my lunch and enjoy local observation. It was quite clear that the staff was in tune with their local regulars and visitors alike. I will definitely stop by on my next visit to Port Huron.

Had lunch yesterday with my father and we were both floored with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. I had an Edison and it was amazing. Kate was extremely welcoming and we left feeling full and very content and very pleased with our decision.

Super tasty food and friendly staff. If I wasnt passing through town, this would definitely be somewhere to hang out. Recommend the huron ave sandwich.

Best place to go in Port Huron. Kate and her staff are the best around. A very friendly and welcoming environment. Lots of fun events too. Only place to get great soups, salads, sandwiches ad gluten free goodies.

My Girl loves this joint. The plethora of Baked goods, Quiche, & Salads seems tailor-made for XX chromosomes. Open for breakfast and lunch, Kate's attempts to locally source their ingredients (a list of the farms/producers is on the chalkboard). They brew great coffees, have pies "ta die for" and on Saturdays: Croque Madame - made with C.Roy Meats' (Yale) ham, Gruyere cheese with a poached egg on top. They also have a nice variety of sandwiches, most of which have interesting twists. For example, the "Yacht Club" is a club (sic) with "cranberry aioli" on roasted garlic/asiago bread. Lastly, every "soup of the day" that we have tried has been excellent. Kate's takes great pride in their offerings and it shows

Excellent coffee (which is hard to find here) and lots of vegetarian/vegan specialties. My second visit and not my last.

We're pretty good soup cooks but... Katie's has the best soups we've eaten in a year! We had pulled pork chili, and Bloody Mary bisque--both fabulous. What a nice, friendly place to stop for a bite.

I've only been into Kate's two times, but both of my sandwiches, the Robinson (BBQ) and a grilled cheese special, were delicious! The restaurant is bright and puts me in a good mood, and Kate herself is a friendly host. I appreciate the wifi access too.

Lovely place! I stopped in shortly after the new menu and definitely enjoyed my sandwich. A bit pricey for what you get, but it's absolutely worth checking out.

This is a 3.75, but am rounding up. I found out that I had to got to PH for business and checked Yelp to find a place for lunch. I happened across Kate's and decided to drop in. It is located right in the heart of downtown PH and was easy enough to find. Upon walking in I really enjoyed the cozy vibe of this place, despite the fact that it was a bigger space. The menu is written on blackboards behind bar. I ended up getting a cup of coffee, a Huron (chicken salad sandwich on pecan cranberry bread) and an oatmeal raisin cookie. Upon ordering the clerk told me that I also got to have a free soup for ordering a sandwich, so I chose chicken and dumpling. The staff members were extremely nice and helpful. I told them I was new, so they walk me around to the coffee station and even filled up my cup for me. Unfortunately, I was not able to dine in, but this place certainly looks like the kind of restaurant that a person could take their time to eat and have a good conversation. As for the food, we will start with the coffee. The coffee was not the high-octane stuff you get at a Starbucks, but still brewed with care and kept fresh. The sandwich was very tasty, it was nice cubes of chicken with apple bits. Despite the size of the chicken, the sandwich held together very nicely and the pecan-cranberry bread add a touch of flavor, but did not overwhelm the filling. The cookie was a bit of a disappointment, as it just tasted like sugar. I really didn't even taste the raisin, despite the fact that I saw they were there. Finally, there was the soup. Upon ordering the soup, I was told that it was all made from scratch and was probably the best that I would ever have. Unfortunately, most of the broth did not make it home with me as the lid that they put on it cracked and went all over my car. That said; from what I was able to salvage, I am pretty sure that it probably would have been the best I ever had. The dumplings were a great size and the chicken was tender and flaking apart. Overall, I don't think I will be making any special trips to PH to go back, but if the job takes me back there, i know where I will be stopping to dine-in and have lunch. Happy eating.

Very friendly place. It's like coming home to family. Bright and clean atmosphere and terrific food.

The food was good, although my salad had no dressing on it. The latte was one of the best I have ever had, perfect milk foam, pretty to look at and wonderful flavor. I was, however, disturbed to see soup being dumped back into the pot after it had been bowled and place out on the customer counter. It makes me wonder what happens behind the scenes that customers don't see.

Phenomenal place. The best of what small, home grown business is about. Kate's uses all local suppliers, changes her menu for the seasons, and keeps blowing your mind with great off the wall offerings. Try her "Sammie's;" they change often, but "The Sperry's" and "The Huron Ave" are faves, and the Saturday Brunch menu has awesome adds like Chocolate Spice French Toast and Havarti, Apple & Honey Grilled Cheese on homemade Asiago Bread. Yes, coffee drinks are what they are known for - but awesome service from an owner who great visitors with "hello friends" is what keeps you coming back.

Yummaaaay! I had the Alley salad. It really satisfied my craving for greens and it tasted great. Kate is wonderful and as friendly as they come. The inside is big and fresh and inviting. Plus they have a featured artist with their work hanging on the walls. I love seeing a place like this in the area. Go visit Kate's!

The greatest lunch spot in the Port Huron area! Kate's is great for anyone looking for healthier, more creative options than what you would typically find in a restaurant in the area. The Edison sandwich is on point. The staff is friendly and the service is great.
